Yoga is my SOS 🌟
I’ve been on vacation and haven’t hashtag prioritized my hashtag wellness and my body feels like I’m 30 years older than I am and the brioche and granita for breakfast have been SO worth it.
So: in praise of yoga. Not just asana, but the whole glorious concoction that is living life devoted to yoga.
Have I mentioned lately how important yoga is in my life? Yoga *is* my SOS, my lifeline, the thing that keeps me tethered to this planet.
Learning yoga and teaching yoga and living yoga and continuing to learn even more yoga has made me a better person, a better friend, a better lover, a better family member. It keeps me calm when things are hectic. It reminds me the hectic is workable. The exploration of yoga is the quickest way for me to return home to myself.
I could make this lengthy and write about the 8 limbs, about what yoga means, about how yoga means union.
Here’s the prompt for this post: I was just on a boat for a week and don’t do a drop of yoga, except while playing on the SUP (and that one day that I did a few sun salutations for like 5-8 minutes). It’s the longest I’ve gone in months. The last two days I’ve rolled out “my” mat and whadda ya know? I’ve immediately felt better, albeit tight and stiff and a little bit creaky. My brain slowed down, my thoughts regulated a lil’ bit (hi full moon/mercury rx). The thing I love about yoga is that for me, it’s always always something that I feel better after. Like 99.9% of the time.
Yoga might not be your thing. Or it may not be your thing, yet. But lemme tell ya, if you’re looking for a way to balance yourself in life at 360°, can I suggest: yoga.
And also, also: enjoy the last long lazy days of summer, rest more, prioritize pleasure, eat icecream for breakfast. Listen to your body, but listen to your heart too.
