What does summer in Italy feel like? 🌻
Like sunflower fields at golden hour and turquoise blue waters that make your mouth drop open. It feels like warm figs picked right off the tree and the sweet relief of a cool evening breeze. It feels like abandoning schedules and the determination to recuperate sleep in September and spontaneous road trips and saying a whole lot of yes.
Summer feels like trusting that everything is happening and unfolding how it should. Summer feels like freedom and abandoning speculation about what will happen next.
Freedom and open schedules and spontaneity didn’t use to be part of my Italian summer life. I had a set schedule and yes was something I used a lot more for work than for play. And I’m certainly not complaining. 10+ years of tour guiding taught me more about humans and travel and Italy and expectations and people’s behavior than I could’ve ever learned in school.
And now? Here I am with my love @morganickitchen last weekend where we decided to pull over on the side of the road like due pazze americane and take pictures in the sunflowers cause Italy, our Italy, loves to be appreciated and as she suggested in her last post- #spontaneity leads to a whole lot of magic unfolding.
