Andrà tutto bene.

I went on my first sanctioned socially distanced wander yesterday.

It was truly magic. The Trevi Fountain glimmered like I’ve never seen, I actually think I gasped as I came around the corner and saw the Pantheon and the Spanish Steps (despite not being my most favorite monument) are certainly still there and they’re still magnificent. There is something stupefying about living in a city that has experienced SO much. There’s a humility to Rome’s vibrancy. It’s showing off, but it’s not trying too hard. And when I looked down this alley, which I’ve looked down a million times before and saw a motorino zooming down it, somehow it felt like everything is going to be okay. This city and it’s little nooks and crannies and it’s aliveness are what made me fall so in love with it in the first place. So here’s to the little things that turn the corners of your mouth up, and the big things that leave you breathless.
