Assistance ✨
This picture is from winter 2022, assisting on a yoga teacher training in Bali:
1. Pinch me. I still can’t believe I get to live a life where I got to do something like that, and if I can do it so can you (insert whatever big dream you have here)
2. Literally *assisting* in this picture, which is one of my favorite things about teaching yoga. Connecting and touching and holding space. This is a perfect example of the above.
When I first saw it, this was my inner dialogue (inner critic):
“I look ‘fat’. I dont ’look’ like a yoga teacher. I can’t ever ‘use’ this image.”
Fat: I’m bloated here and not pulling in my belly and that’s super normal cause when cameras aren’t on us we don’t spend every waking minute of our life performing and sucking in. Duh.
Looking like a Yoga Teacher: it’s wild to me that I’ve been teaching yoga over six years and I still get imposter syndrome. A yoga teacher is someone who teaches yoga. And teaching yoga, while not my full-time job, is an integral part of who I am and what I offer to the world.
IG Content: Bringing it back to— assistance. I’m in a re-do phase of my Instagram life where I’m (finally) bringing someone on to organize and assist with my content. I’m tired of doing it by myself. What a first world problem to have 🫣
I love writing to y’all and sharing on stories. That’s not going anywhere.
But since I won’t be doing all of my hashtag content, there will be random pictures like this one that show up and messaging will be more clear and concise, which will give me more time to write on my Substack (finally!!) and even more importantly, space to plan out all the delicious details of my in-person events and retreats (in Italy and Asheville and beyond).
That’s all— remember it’s okay to ask for help and assistance. In work, in life, in love. We’re all better when we support each other 🫶
