Old Butt Knob Trail, a 10-mile (16km) hike, 3,300 feet (1,000m) of elevation change, quality time with my brother, a tree that is *very* ‘divine feminine’.

Shining rock, which is a huge (shiny) piece of white quartz and makes me remember that I grew up in literal magic.

Considering the contrast between Rome and the Blue Ridge Mountains. But more than that, as I do, I’m considering the similarities. Two grand dames.

These mountains are old and wise and gentle and grounding, and similar to Rome— they don’t care about us and our little people problems and our little lives.

This is one of my favorite zoom outs: If we remember we’re only here for a blink-of-an-eye (that quartz is over a billion years old) what would we do differently? What would we do the same?

As always, here to remind you (for your brief and beautiful time on earth):
You deserve a life that lights you up ✨
