One last picture from the summer of my dreams. This was taken over a month ago. It captures a lot of my favorite elements from Italian summer.

Fishing boats, golden hour, bright colored buildings and a little bit of the sea. The orange stripe in the picture is my favorite part. It’s the central street (which is a big word for such a narrow open air walkway) where everyone gets dressed up to “fare il struscio” basically back and forth to see and smile and wave at all the people they know and rub shoulders with the people they don’t know yet.

This year has been a lot of strange things but I’m oh so grateful that I’ve been able to continue being places where open air meetings and greetings are acceptable and where hospitality in its purest Italian form still exists.

And tomorrow is the fall equinox. I’ll miss summer, anyone surprised? But, I’m grateful for Rome’s temperamental thunderstorms and gentle decision to accept the change of seasons without being too abrupt.
