Rome is in full bloom and I feel like I am too ✨

There’s this strange conversation I’ve been having with basically everyone these days and it goes something like this: We’re going to readjust, there’s going to be a new-new normal, we’ll go out to dinner at 10pm and stay out way past what is our currently enforced curfew.

The conversation continues with: We’re tired of the rules, we’re used to the rules, we’re really not sure how we used to do so many things and yet we know we’ll start doing them all again. Rome is sad without tourists, Rome is stunning without tourists. The whole world and tourism and the future is one big (potentially gorgeous) question mark.

On a personal note, I feel overwhelmingly excited about l’estate italiana (Italian summer) and I feel certain that there’s more beauty on the horizon. Sometimes I feel tired and a little bit despondent because so much has changed. More often, I feel invigorated and inspired and hopeful and positive that the changes have the potential to integrate into the fabric of our lives. Of my life.

So that’s it. It’s spring. Life is a fascinating adventure. What what would happen if we all acted like we were blooming like the wisteria that’s currently taken over my beautiful city?
