oday you turn 2,776 years old, amore mio 💛
Look at you, all shiny and flashy and show-off-y at golden hour.
It’s Rome’s birthday today. I’m happy to be here. I’ve been feeling a bit scattered recently, talking to people around me (friends, family, coaching clients, yoga students, tourists on my tours) I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.
Do you feel it? Life is pulling me in a million gorgeous directions and in the end, I’m really just along for the ride.
Sitting with that feeling in this ancient city feels more manageable.
A few things Rome has taught me (of many):
✨ La dolce far niente. The sweet joy of doing nothing is often the best medicine of all.
✨I am not important. I am one tiny speck in the huge web of humans who have passed through this city over the last 2,776 (+) years.
✨I am so important. Living in a city that often feels like a village, there is a palpable sense of community in Rome.
✨Community is everything. Piazza culture means that the public squares are Rome’s backyard. We’re all in this together.
✨Appreciating beauty is also everything. The more we train our minds to notice beauty around us, the more we stay in this present moment.
✨Staying present = staying in our bodies = embodiment. And that’s kinda the whole goal, right?
