Rome. Graffiti. A powerful woman. A cypress tree in the background. Bright blue skies.

…sees one wild woman piece of graffiti and immediately quotes Women Who Run With The Wolves.

“I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you, and that you will work with these stories from *your* life- not someone else's life- water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom. That is the work. The only work.” @clarissapinkolaestes

But, really: our only work is to accept our own stories.

The ones that have happened, the ones that are happening, the ones that will happen in the future.

So frequently we get caught in a storyline that’s not fully ours.

The “shoulds” and the “I need to”s overtake us. We think there’s some blueprint for how life should be lived and that we’re so close to compliance, just missing the mark.

We think if we could just get that promotion.

If we could just meet that romantic partner.

If we could just buy that house, have that baby, settle down, go out and travel, have the perfect plates to host the perfect dinner party with our 30 closest friends— then we’d be happy.

We can tell ourselves that happiness is always just out of reach, which allows us to live in the storyline that we need more.

Generally, it’s an inside job. The stories of our lives weave together in imperceptible ways— and if we can look at them and accept them, we realize that happiness is already available.

The best part about somatic coaching is that the gorgeous people I work with come to me with the most beautiful stories: Their own.

It is my job to support them through processing the negative stories they carry. And then? It is my job to gently, lovingly remind them that they get to work with their existent story until they blossom, until they evolve into the next version of themselves.

What’s a story you’ve told yourself that prevents you from being the most wildly, authentic version of you?
