L’estate italiana. Italian summer. ☀️

This is my 15th summer living in Italy, but I appreciate the nuance and magic of it a little bit more each year.

Rather than getting tired of it, I find more magic in the nostalgic quality of a summer that is always the same, even though the world continues to change and evolve and grow (in the good ways and the bad ones too).

Americans come to Italy in droves every summer seeking this exact quality. Nostalgia and beauty. Il dolce far niente. The sprezzatura (nonchalance) of how Italians live life so effortlessly (but with oh so much behind the scenes effort as well).

I feel grateful for everything that Italian summers teach me each year, and this particular end of August feels a little less bittersweet than the past ones have.

Here’s a little compilation of the sea I’ve seen this summer:
1. Santa Marinella
2. Palmarola
3. Argentario
4. In the middle of the Mediterranean
5. Ischia

P.s. I’m cooking up a way to experience l’estate 2024 together. It’ll be somewhere between a retreat and a tour/vacation. And it’ll be intimate and growth-focused while still being light and delightful. If you wanna be the first to know about it you can sign up for my newsletter (link in bio) 💛
