We don’t do yoga to get better at yoga, we do yoga to get better at life!

Phew! This (almost) year of pandemia has been the craziest non-linear journey I’ve ever been on. Can anyone relate? The layers shed. The realizations. The new habits and the new friendships and the new routines and all these tiny little new things that continue to help me become who I’m meant to be.

In this year, I have officially “become” a yoga teacher which is literal (last April I finished my requirements to register as a yoga teacher) and also more definitive (I say that I am a yoga teacher when asked what I do) and consistent (I’m currently teaching 5-6 days a week). A year ago today I would never have imagined that this would be my reality.

The other day I shared with a student that teaching so much yoga this year has made me realize I’m not sure if I want to be a yoga teacher. Clearly my blunt honesty in sharing this with someone who is paying me to teach them yoga is highly advisable. What I meant was this: I have expanded into being a teacher and it is fulfilling. The pandemic has allowed me the space to fully own this new role and yet (as I share on here frequently) I really do miss my former life and tour guiding and sharing Italy too. My dream is the combination of the two and I’ll be announcing many more retreats over the next few months as travel (hopefully) starts to open back up.

What I do know is this: I can simultaneously be a tour guide and a yoga teacher and a retreat leader and a consultant and a writer (and and and). It doesn’t really matter how I define myself professionally, I still do my yoga everyday. And in doing the yoga and through teaching the yoga and through trying my best to live the yoga, I am pretty sure I am getting better at living my life too. There is still uncertainty, but I am oh so hopeful for the future. If anyone else is feeling a little pandemic fatigue, I hear ya. Me too. And on that note, can I graciously recommend yoga?
