“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.” -Rumi

Y’know for all the jokes on the internet about misuse of Rumi quotes (or Gandhi quotes or any other #inspirational quotes) I really love this poem. And I really love Rumi. Fun fact about me: my mom and dad met at a Sufi community in Asheville, NC in the early 1980s.

Which I guess is my way of saying: live and let live. As the poem says- go past wrong doing and right doing. Judge less. Understand more. Go to the place where there is no need to categorize all the things as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ or ‘right’ or ‘wrong’.

When we get caught up in labeling ourselves and labeling others, we lose the gorgeous sense of wonder and mystery in the world. One of the main rules I keep coming back to after nearly a year of the world being turned upside down is this: there are, in fact, no rules.

Also, how ridiculously gorgeous is the Italian countryside? Perfectly tilled fields, rosemary bushes and cypress trees, little mountains dusted with snow? The air is so crisp it tingles in your nostrils and isn’t that something to love about winter? Everything is changing and sometimes lockdown feels infinite and sometimes hindsight is (actually) 20/20. I can’t wait for you to be able to travel to Italy again and for now- I’m simply wintering and resting and gently putting ideas into motion..I’ll meet you there
