“While the Colosseum stands, Rome shall stand; when the Colosseum falls, Rome shall fall; when Rome falls, the world shall fall.”

I’m certain I’ve used this quote before on Instagram. I’ve used it, and it was in reference to the pandemic and I’m pretty sure it was probably about 18 months ago. And look! Here we are.

-The Colosseum is still standing
-The world has changed, dramatically even, but so have we 🌎
-2022 feels rich with possibility, opportunity, change, growth

My current reality is nostalgia. It’s the kind of nostalgia that feels deliciously soft to sink into. It’s the kind I want to swim around in. It’s a bittersweet nostalgia of my former life as a tour guide in #Rome.

And it’s not even ‘complete’ nostalgia, I will certainly be guiding this summer— but on a much more limited basis. This limited basis is self-imposed. It’s for future me. As much as I *adore* tour guiding (with all my heart and soul) I truly want to focus on next steps. I plan to dedicate a lot of my energy to hosting yoga & wellness retreats and I also plan to begin working as a body-oriented coach. It’s exciting to be able to have a soft entry into a whole new career. It’s lovely knowing I’ll still get to visit this magnificent building with humans from all over the world this year. And it’s such a thing that this pandemic gave me the push I needed to (as Thoreau put it) move more confidently towards the directions of my dreams.

I’ve certainly lived a life thus far that is more varied and rich than I could have ever imagined. I’m grateful for all these experiences and when I looked on my iPhone for a picture of the colosseum today, these came up. They gave me the aforementioned nostalgia and so I’m sharing them with you.

I feel forever lucky to have had the privilege to take so many amazing people through here. What. A. Gift.
