“Always say “yes” to the present moment. What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to what already is? What could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now? Surrender to what is. Say “yes” to life — and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you.”

Surrender to what is. Surrender to now. Say yes. These are a whole bunch of my favorite sayings all wrapped up in a neat Eckhart package.
I’ve been working a whole lot as a tour guide since I got back from Greece 2 weeks ago. This is the result of a few things:
-saying yes a little *too* much
-truly enjoying and loving sharing ‘my’ Rome with people who are visiting
-having an easy and enjoyable way to earn money after two years filled with a hefty dash of economic uncertainty
I keep having to remind myself while on tour: I’m allowed to be multi-hyphenate, to write, to teach yoga, to lead retreats, to lead tours AND to have the aspiration of settling into being a full-time somatic coach in the not-too-distant future.
Saying “yes!” to this present moment for me means embracing the heat of the city and the curious questions from tourists and owning all the parts of me, in this exact moment. It means not resisting and not dissociating.
I find that when I’m able to be *truly* present, the present moment is pretty damn perfect, even in its occasional overwhelm and especially in its everyday mundanity.
Summer is HERE (all caps, emphasis) and social media and this re-opened world might have us wishing we were somewhere else, or someone else, or something else.
My invitation is to arrive, arrive, arrive in this exact moment. Look around you. Surrender to now.
This moment has something that is definitely worth saying “YES” to, what is it for you?
