We’re officially in summer! Sleep less! Socialize more! Wish that you had plans, make them, wish you could cancel them and/or there were more hours in the day!
Life’s been moving at that speed. I love it.
Summer for me used to mean working myself into the ground in order to squirrel away tour guiding money for winter. I was always a little frazzled, often one step away from losing my voice. That was my life 2010-2019. Then I had the great rest that was 2020-2022. I learned how to slow down. Like, for real. Reflecting back on the past few years, I have explored more of Italy and her glorious summer offerings than I had in the previous 10 years, combined.
Summer now means saying yes to last-minute surprises and having flexible plans and trying my very best (and often failing) at finding work/life balance.
It also means not comparing yourself to others on the internet.
Enjoy your summer ☀️
You’re doing it right.
This is a highlight reel, for all of us. It doesn’t matter how honest we are on here, or how much we speak from a space of truth— our own truth can be subjective, our interpretation of a situation can change. There aren’t very many rules in life and we may as well live outside of the voice in our head that constantly compares itself to others.
Like most things I write, this is a message to myself too. I get caught up in: oh I wish I had done that fun thing, too!! And then I look up from my phone and around at my life and I remind myself: you’re doing it right.
P.s. this blurry selfie? Showing friends what I was wearing as I walked to start a tour. Am I feeling like I should be taking more pictures, getting more content? Sure. But it’s all good exactly how it is, too.
