An exercise: Notice yourself when you’re not rushed by other people’s urgency 🌟

I love the saying, used regularly in Rome, “c’è sempre domani”.

There’s always tomorrow.

Like most people, I struggle with not feeling like I’m doing enough. In the past, I set unrealistic expectations for myself (catch up on 32 emails! reorganize my closet! do an hour of yoga! have a catch up with a friend! go grocery shopping! …all before getting to work by 10am) and then felt like a ‘failure’ if I didn’t achieve them.

I’m not saying discipline is bad. In fact, I think the entire point is to keep pushing and stretching our limits.

But we must remember to stay in our own flow.

Can we use our inner sweetness to stop living in the place of never enough-ness?

I was recently invited by a coach I was working with to not live in other people’s urgency, and it hit me so hard. Oh! Right. We all have needs we need met and we are always advocating for them, whether it’s conscious or subconscious.

People can ask for something (urgently) and I can take my time (respectfully).

My timeline is my own, right now. Not society’s. Not my client’s. Not my friend’s. Not my family’s. Not even me last months.

There were always be more to do, always. Other people will constantly have needs that arise. Constantly.

How can you take back your schedule, your dreams, your life, without succumbing to someone else’s “urgent” needs?
