Golden hour daydreams and love for my adopted city
Do you see it? My goodness she is teeming with tourists! After a few years of no travel the world opened up so damn quickly that I blinked my eyes and Rome was filled with tourists, restaurants are booked weeks in advance, there’s so much buzz and activity that it’s hard to keep up sometimes.
Some thoughts on tourists:
Being a good tour guide for me used to be about knowing *all* the things.
Sharing the dates, the facts, the names and telling the beautiful stories behind all the magnificent individuals (and whole societies) that shaped Rome into what she is today.
It was a countdown to sharing as much as I could, as quickly as I could, with all my enthusiasm spilling out over the edges.
Now when I guide I find myself simply wanting to connect with people, deeper than ever before, with less urgency to get all the facts on the table.
I just want you to love Rome 🇮🇹
I want to explain the nuances, the things that make this city unique.
The colors, the way the sunlight hits certain places just right, the seasonal food, the predictable nature of her inhabitants.
I want to tour guide like we are co-writing a love letter to this city.
And? I don’t see myself guiding much at all in the near future.
Which means that in stark contrast to a normal #marketing post this is practically a way of saying:
My goodness I love Rome and how she is my forever creative muse and I hope that I continue to take pictures like this for the rest of time.
That’s all 💛
