Y’all! I wasn’t planning on making a political post 🇺🇸

I haven’t lived in the USA since 2010. I backed away from excessive media consumption in 2016, right after Trump was elected. To say the last 4 years have been a rollercoaster (even from abroad) is an understatement.

Being in front of the Pantheon has been a steady reminder to me of the achievements of humanity. Equally it serves to remind me that throughout history there have been oh so many dark moments, and also oh so many moments of light. Today is a day of light. There is still darkness and fear and a pandemic and plenty of uncertainty. I like to remind myself that the Pantheon has seen plenty of pandemics, plenty of recovery and periods of light, and everything in between. It serves to remind me that no matter the outcome everything changes and then changes again.

So back to today. Regardless of your political beliefs, if you have a daughter or know someone who does, or if you’ve ever met a woman, yesterday marked a day for the United States of America that is monumental. The US now has its first ever female Vice President ever!! That alone is enough to honor today as a good day full of beauty.

This picture was taken last January by the magnificent @kelseymkurtis and it is the same smile that will not leave my face today. There’s still plenty of work and change on the horizon. There’s still plenty to do. But today I’m focusing on the light and enjoying this exceptionally sunny day.
