My heart is splitting open for my hometown of Asheville, NC 💔

My heart is deeply encouraged watching and feeling the community and outpouring of love that bubbles up in the face of disaster.

Asheville is devastated, my people are safe and accounted for. They’re all alive. They have relatively minimum damage compared to what other people and businesses are experiencing. I’m one of the lucky ones, in that sense.

When tragedy hits close to home it opens up a huge question mark, an inevitable reimagining of what was previously considered normal or the de facto way of doing things.

I’m contemplating a lot right now, but the message I really want to share here is this: We cannot live or heal without community and connection ❤️‍🩹

The connection of a neighbor saying you can shower at their water pump, or telling you there’s free ice being handed out, or letting you know where the lines are less long for the resources you need (gas/food/water/power for charging devices).

And? This isn’t a time for me to get overly preachy on anything (not even connection).

Here’s the deal:

My hometown of Asheville, NC (and 28 other counties around it) are devastated. I’ve been posting about it and a lot of you are reaching out asking how to help (from literally all over the world 🌎, which reinforces my previous thesis on the power of connection).

-There are dozens of Asheville campaigns on gofundme.
-The organization @belovedasheville is doing incredible work distributing resources.
-If you have a link or a resource to share, please do so below. It’s not like I’m an influencer (thank goodness!) but I do have a beautiful community on here and they want to help and god if that isn’t the beauty of technological connection I don’t know what is 🫶
